Betaxolol occurs as selective beta1 receptor blocker used in the treatment of hypertension and glaucoma. Existence selective for betaOne receptors, it occasionally has fewer systemic side results than non-selective beta-blockers, e.g., non inducing bronchospasm (mediated by betaTwo receptors) rather Timolol. Betaxolol besides shows greater affininty for betaOne receptors than Metoprolol.
